The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving with the U.S. military on or after April 5, 1917. At this time, it is estimated that 1.8 million Purple Hearts have been awarded.

This wood inlay is a representation of the medal presented to the recipients or their families. The laser cut pieces are assembled by hand and then the completed barrel is turned to shape on a lathe. After sanding in stages to 600 grit, six coats of very durable CA finish are applied and polished to a high sheen.

The pen hardware is the high quality Sierra twist finished in 24K Gold and Black. Included is a black, medium point Parker style ink cartridge. Refills are available at most office supply stores or on-line.

Also included is a hinged, black velvet presentation box, which is perfect for gift giving or protecting your pen.
